Welcome everyone to Epicwin Designs, I’ve created this blog with the purpose of sharing my life experiences with the web design community. I’ve always been interested in doing web design but I never really gave it much attention until June 2009. From September of 2007 to June 2009 I was working in a dead end job as a warehouse worker, until I met some of my old friends from High School whom I was very close friends with, so we started hanging out more often. One of them told me some good news, that some more of our high school friends were moving back from Atlanta to Miami to start their own iPhone App development company. I was happy to see all my old friends back in town and doing something so well in life. This is where it all started for me.

Some time passed by and we were pretty much closer than ever, and one of my friends approached me and told me, “Man, you’re a really smart guy, and you were always very ambitious, why are you working as a warehouse worker?”, so I gave him some “victim” excuse. We talked some more and that night he gave me some advice that inspired me to do better for myself. After a few months after we talked I decide to quit my job as a warehouse worker and pursue my dream of becoming a web developer. I did not wait to find another job in order to quit my warehouse job, in fact I knew virtually nothing about web development before I quit my job. You may think I’m crazy but I knew if I had stayed at that job while trying to become a web developer, I probably would have given up. So you’d think that after I quit my job and effectively cut off my own source of income, that I would get started learning all the basics of web development right away, but alas I didn’t. I took a 1 month vacation to Brazil to visit my family and childhood friends and I did not worry about making money or getting a new job for the entire month, all I did was have fun and enjoy life. It was amazing.

Once my vacation was over, it was time to face reality once again. I came back feeling like a brand new person, ready to take on the world. I started reading as many books as I could in the shortest amount of time, reading online resources, and pretty much anything I could find to help me achieve my goal, I got my first job as a Web Designer 4 months later after I started learning about web design. To me that seemed like a great accomplishment and I was on my way to making my career. I quit my job 6 months later, while I was learning a lot about web design and development the work environment was very toxic and the company was extremely disorganized, and the clients were pissed! So I decided from now on my goal would be to one day start my own web design company and do things my way. So I decided to create Epicwin Desings, this will be my legacy and I look forward to making it happen.

One of the reasons for this blog is to share all my experiences along the way to success as well as to give back to the community. If it wasn’t for all the great people out there taking the time to give back and teach others the things they’ve learned, it would have been a lot harder for me to be where I am right now. So I hope I can inspire and teach other by sharing my own experiences and knowledge here.

As Horace Mann man once said, “We should be ashamed to die until we have made some major contribution to human kind”.
